Pray First

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Psalm 5:2-3 KJV

Regarding prayer, Pastor Chuck Swindoll states, “make prayer your first response so that you let nothing become a substitute. Before you reach over to pick up the phone and share your need with another person, pray. Before you ask somebody for guidance, pray. Before you worry about it, pray. Take it to God. If you do, He’ll give you insight. He’ll give you resilience.”

Looking back on his early life, Pastor Chuck reflected: "Oh, I prayed about it. But, looking back, I realized that my prayers followed in the wake of my decisions. I failed to lead my decision with a sincere questioning of God's mind on the issue."
